Newcastle United: Lee Ryder slams Javier Manquillo display

Lee Ryder has slammed the display of Javier Manquillo after Newcastle United lost 2-1 at home to Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Tuesday night.
Writing in his latest piece for The Chronicle, the football journalist claimed that the former Liverpool and Sunderland man ‘went missing’ for the Eagles’ equaliser from Jairo Riedewald and added that it was ‘not his best night’, as he gave him just a 5/10 overall rating, the joint-lowest out of his teammates, along with Jamal Lewis and Jeff Hendrick.
Was Manquillo the worst player for Newcastle United?
Yes

No

Manquillo did not have the best of games
As Ryder rightfully points out, Manquillo did not have the best of matches at St. James’ Park. The 26-year-old failed to offer any real attacking threat from full-back, as he failed to make a single successful dribble or accurate cross (Sofascore).
He was not great in possession either, as he only managed to record a mere 47 touches of the ball in total, with only three of his teammates to have started the game having fewer, and he lost possession no fewer than 12 times (Sofascore), meaning that he lost the ball roughly every 3.9 touches on average.
The Spanish right-back needs to put in some much better performances for Steve Bruce’s team if he is to keep his place, with Emil Krafth breathing down his neck to start for the Tyneside club.
