Newcastle United have now been dealt a big double injury blow before they take on Watford in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

The Lowdown: Result needed

The St. James' Park faithful are in desperate need of a result in what they will feel is a winnable game against the newly-promoted Hornets.

They currently sit in 19th spot in the top-flight table, with no wins and a mere two points from their opening five matches (Premier League).

The Latest: Injury news

Speaking in his pre-game press conference ahead of the match, Steve Bruce has now revealed that both Joe Willock and Jamal Lascelles have been ruled out because of injury, and may face more weeks out:

"Joe Willock's was a complete fluke. He kicked the ground and damaged his toe. He'll not make this week and it'll be touch and go for next week as well. Jamaal Lascelles' is a muscle injury. He tried yesterday but it was no good so it'll be a couple of weeks."

The Verdict: Blow

It certainly is a big blow for the North East club to lose two of their key players before such an important fixture.

Although not off the mark so far this season, Willock has already shown the Tyneside outfit what he can do, with eight goals in 14 games during his loan spell from Arsenal last term (Transfermarkt).

Lascelles is the captain, and so he will have a huge influence on his team not only on the pitch, but off of it as well.

Nonetheless, the Magpies will now have to find a way to win at Vicarage Road with the players that Bruce has available.
