Newcastle United: Premier League CEO put under huge pressure to approve takeover

The chief executive of the Premier League Richard Masters has been put under huge pressure to approve of the proposed takeover of Newcastle United.

First, another letter written to the CEO of the top flight, this time from Toon For Change as they shared it on their Twitter page, to seek clarity from England’s highest division as to why it has taken so long for them to make their final decision, adding to the fact that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) group had cut the wire on their own £300 million deal with Mike Ashley as they felt that the EPL were simply taking too long.

We have contacted the Premier League seeking urgent clarification on the 'unforseeably prolonged' takeover of #NUFC.

We believe the integrity of the Premier League as a competition and organisation, has been brought into disrepute.

Indeed, this is not the first time that Masters has been personally contacted to get some answers. Second, a fan of the Tyneside club wrote to his local MP to see what they could do, as he shared the response that he was given on his Twitter page.

Ian Levy MP confirmed to him that he has now written to Masters, again with the same objective to get some answers on the failing of the bid.

And thirdly, the petition made by the NUFC supporters themselves to try and get answers from Masters has now reached over 70,000 signatures, which is more than the highest attendance ever recorded at St. James’ Park.

Whether they get anywhere is another question, but it is clear that more pressure is now being put on the Premier League and indeed Masters himself to get answers on why the takeover process has taken so long.
