The Saudi Sports Minister has made a rather big claim on the proposed takeover of Newcastle United by the country’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).
When asked by BBC Sports editor Dan Roan as to whether he thinks that PIF will try to resurrect the takeover deal for the St. James’ Park faithful in the future, HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Turki Al Faisal claimed:
“I don’t know what PIF’s plans are, but if there’s an opportunity, they’d look into it.”
Newcastle takeover hopes resurrected?
Indeed, given that the takeover collapsed over disputes between the Premier League and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) consortium, perhaps the fact that the Sports Minister claims that PIF would look into resurrecting the £300m deal should come as a bit of a boost to members of the Toon Army.

There is still a question mark as to whether these disputes would result in a court case between the top flight and its chief executive Richard Masters and Mike Ashley, who already has the much highly-rated Nick De Marco ready to represent him in the potential legal battle.

Nonetheless, a takeover of the Magpies is something that the majority of fans would like to see given that it could give them a lot of success from pumping some cash into the Tyneside club.
When could a takeover court case take place?
Indeed, with the 2020/21 term already under way, coupled up with the implications of the global pandemic, it is unclear as to when a possible court case could take place.
Nonetheless, NUFC supporters will be hoping that this legal battle between their club and England’s highest division can settle these disputes once and for all.
