Newcastle United: Takeover hopes potentially boosted as Nick De Marco wins Sheffield Wednesday case

The hopes of Newcastle United fans of a takeover being completed in the North East have potentially been boosted as lawyer Nick De Marco has won his case for Sheffield Wednesday.

Confirming in a tweet in response to a club statement made by the Owls, the lawyer helped the EFL Championship team get their points reduction reduced from 12 to just six, meaning that they have a much better chance of staying up in the division.

De Marco has shown his skillset here by winning a tough legal battle, which may potentially boost the hopes of the St. James’ Park faithful if he represents them in a possible court case versus the Premier League.

De Marco best in sports business

Indeed, De Marco has a very good reputation in the sports business industry, as those who work with him privately have labelled him as the best.

He has also been branded as ‘the Lionel Messi of sport law,’ which is clearly a high accolade and he has proven himself once again by assisting the winning of the legal battle with SWFC.

Could De Marco make the Newcastle takeover a reality?

Supporters of the Toon Army should feel cautiously optimistic if De Marco is to represent the Magpies in a court case against the top flight over the failed £300m takeover by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabian (KSA) consortium.

He would be representing Mike Ashley in court if the legal battle against the Premier League were to go ahead, which, given his reputation and track record, that should encourage NUFC fans.
