Plenty of fans around the country will be hoping to see their club do well in the Carabao Cup, but it seems as though those who follow Newcastle United don’t even have that.
The club’s official Twitter page had aimed to spread some positivity ahead of their tie with Leicester City, with images of some of their players looking happy and up for the game:

However, the fans were having none of it and have made their feelings known that they don’t expect to stand a chance against the Foxes, despite it being just days since they beat Tottenham Hotspur 1-0 in their own back yard.
Steve Bruce has previously stated that he will take the cup competitions seriously, as reported by The Chronicle, though it has since been confirmed that the Magpies are unlikely to have Jamaal Lascelles available for the game, with other first-team players said to be injured.
This hasn’t bred confidence amongst the fanbase, who are now expecting a tough evening against Leicester and former Newcastle player Ayoze Perez.
A selection of reaction to the showing of positivity, including posts from pessimistic Newcastle fans, can be seen below:

Funny how we got 6 injuries overnight… then when we crash out after playing reserves we know what the excuse will be
