Newcastle United have now reportedly made an offer to sign Jens Cajuste before the summer transfer window ends.

The Lowdown: Brentford agree fee

It was reported earlier this month that Brentford had agreed a fee to sign Magpies target Cajuste, but that potential move has not materialised as of yet.

The St James’ Park faithful have reportedly shown a concrete interest in signing him, and they may still be able to do that before the window closes.

The Latest: Cajuste offer

As per football journalist Loic Tanzi, the North East club have now made an offer to try and sign Cajuste, worth €14m (£11.9m) plus €2m (£1.7m) in bonuses.

However, Rennes have already made three offers for the Midtjylland ace, and the competition for his signature is now 'intensifying'.

The Verdict: Sign

Described as the ‘future of Swedish football’ and an ‘exciting’ prospect by football talent scout Jacek Kulig back in April, Cajuste is a player that has so much potential at just 22 years of age.

The Tyneside club need to bolster their squad ahead of the new 2021/22 Premier League season, and the Sweden international would help do just that, given Steve Bruce another handy option in the centre of midfield.

Nonetheless, they would feel a great sense of satisfaction in beating off the fierce competition for his services, especially coming from their rivals in the top flight.
