Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) is reportedly now eyeing up a move to sign Raphinha for Newcastle United.

The Lowdown: Shining light

The 24-year-old has been a shining light for Leeds United so far this season, with six goals in 12 games so far in the Premier League (Transfermarkt).

As such, he has received formidable praise, with former top-flight defender Alan Hutton describing him as a 'nightmare' back in October, while pundit Clinton Morrison has recently claimed that the Brazilian's feet are 'a joke'.

Nonetheless, it is hard to see the maestro staying at Leeds much longer.

The Latest: MBS eyeing Raphinha

As per Fichajes, MBS is now eyeing a potential move for Raphinha, but could face competition from Liverpool and PSG for his signature.

The 24-year-old is expected to leave Elland Road in 2022, but Newcastle may have to wait until the summer in case they end up getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

The Verdict: Unrealistic

No matter how much money MBS tries to throw at Raphinha and Leeds, it is simply too unrealistic to think that the Brazilian would move to Tyneside given the calibre of teams interested in him and the sheer quality that he possesses.

The winger is averaging more shots and key passes per game in the Premier League than Allan Saint-Maximin, Joelinton and Ryan Fraser so far this term, while his 2.5 dribbles per match is bettered only by Saint-Maximin at St James' Park (WhoScored).

Therefore, Raphinha would be a significant upgrade for Eddie Howe's squad, but at 24 years of age, he surely has higher ambitions than a Premier League relegation battle for now.
