Indeed, the winger is now a free agent after his contract at Bournemouth ran out this summer, meaning that the Tyneside club would not have to pay a penny in transfer fees if they wish to sign him up.

Fraser would be a relatively low-risk signing on a free, and his previous stats show that this may well be a good bit of business from the Magpies should they be able to persuade him to come to St James’ Park.
Proven at Premier League level, the £15.75m-valued ace has scored 16 goals and supplied a further 29 assists in 120 games in the division over four consecutive terms, including the 2018/19 season when he racked up no fewer than 14 assists, as per Transfermarkt.
Comparing his 2019/20 Premier League figures to Newcastle’s attacking midfielders Allan Saint-Maximin, Christian Atsu and Miguel Almiron, Fraser averaged more key passes, crosses and long balls per league match than the Magpies trio (via WhoScored).

Also, at 26, Fraser is arguably still at a good age to kick on as he perhaps has not hit his prime years just yet and has already accrued plenty of top-flight experience.
To get any 26-year old on a free, let alone the Scottish international, provides good business as he should have a sell-on value in case it doesn’t work out in the northeast, and so Newcastle could end up making a nice profit on him anyway.
Nevertheless, Steve Bruce would be looking for Fraser to make an instant impact if he is to join the Magpies.
