Newcastle United are among six Premier League clubs to have enquired about the possibility of signing Liverpool ace Rhian Brewster on loan in the summer transfer window, according to Goal.
As per the outlet, Aston Villa, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, Crystal Palace and newly-promoted Fulham are also interested in his services, with the three teams relegated from the top flight to the EFL Championship in AFC Bournemouth, Norwich City and Watford among his admirers.
Indeed, Brewster impressed while on loan in England’s second division in the 2019/20 season with Swansea City, where he scored a relatively impressive 11 goals in 22 games, including one in the Championship play-offs (via Transfermarkt).
The striker played a big part in getting the Welsh side to the play-off semi-final, where they unfortunately lost to Thomas Frank’s Brentford 3-2 on aggregate.
Having proved himself in the Championship, perhaps it is now time for Brewster to make the step up the EPL, especially given that he may not get much game-time at Anfield with the likes of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane currently occupying the forward positions for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
It may also be a good move for the Magpies, too, as fellow strikers Andy Carroll, Dwight Gayle and Joelinton only scored six goals between them in the Premier League in the last campaign (per Whoscored), and so Steve Bruce may be looking for someone else to come in and score more goals.
Does Brewster start for Newcastle?
The 20-year old also has the added pedigree of winning both the UEFA Champions League with the Reds and the U17 World Cup with England, the latter where he was top scorer with eight goals (via Transfermarkt), as his winning mentality at such a young age may prove useful at St. James’ Park.
Geordies, would Brewster be a good signing? Comment below!
