Newcastle United have been brilliant as many had expected in the Championship this season and are well in the title race – much to the delight of their fans in the Transfer Tavern.
That being said, then, it is very likely that Rafa Benitez’s men will be making a swift return to the Premier League.
They are in a very competitive league and have a very jam packed schedule coming up, though, so squad management and improvement this month is going to be key.
With it being January it is more than likely that they will look to add a few players to their squad and bulk it up ahead of their seemingly inevitable Premier League return.
With that being said, though, they don’t want to add in any players that will disrupt the camp nor do they want to add anyone who isn’t going to fit into their plans long term.
So, that in mind, here are two players who Newcastle would be stupid to sign this window – according to our landlord…
Alan Judge
The Brentford midfielder is a good player but a long term injury has kept him out of the whole current season.
Newcastle cannot afford, then, to go in for a player that could have injury issues – particularly with the games coming thick and fast. He’d probably be available for a cut price, but with the options Newcastle already have in his position they really don’t need to bring him in – even Mohamed Diame is sat on the bench more often than not!
Ruben Loftus-Cheek
Antonio Conte wants to keep him and though that doesn’t always mean much, the Magpies shouldn’t bother anyway.
It would be stupid of Newcastle to bring him in on a 6-month loan deal as he would disrupt the heart of their midfield in the short term and then he’d return to Chelsea at the end of the season, benefiting Chelsea and not Newcastle in any way really!
