Our Newcastle fans here in the Transfer Tavern are not best pleased with the way their summer window went this time around with Deadline Day proving to be underwhelming.
Indeed, on promotion a few months ago many fans naturally felt that the club was going to really go for it in the market and sign some top stars but instead they have seemingly been hamstrung by finance once again.
Naturally, then, fans are disgruntled and some are going to be worried that Rafa Benitez wants to leave but – as per George Caulkin on Twitter – he does not want to go in light of what happened in the market this year:
Benitez won’t quit over yesterday. There was a degree of understanding that Southampton, for example, made it difficult over Targett.

For sure, then, that should come as a relief to many Newcastle fans for now and they’ll be hoping that the players the club did manage to sign will perform.
