The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been urging their club not to sign this former winger and would prefer they pursued Kenedy from Chelsea.
Rafa Benitez is working on a tight budget from Mike Ashley and the Magpies have been linked with a number of different forward players to boost their attacking options.
One such player is Andros Townsend, who has been linked by the Chronicle with a £20M return to Tyneside just two years after he left for Crystal Palace in a £13M move.
But Newcastle fans on Twitter are heavily against any potential deal, citing the fact that he left the club just after their relegation from the Premier League.
They would also rather see Newcastle pursue Chelsea’s 22-year-old winger Kenedy, who was on loan at the club from January last year. The biggest issue I had with Townsend leaving was how he jumped ship at the very first opportunity, he literally opted for the first club that looked at him, didn't begrudge him a move but found his desperation to get out disrespectful to #NUFC

I woudnt pay 30m for Townsend to play on he right no chance he's a very good player but I would say 15m will be a fair price considering the drop of form since he left us and only went for 13m
Kenedy and Townsend for either side would be amazing but it would cost 35m for both
