Still, there were some good signs from the performance, and a win against FC Basel during the week will have brought the confidence back – but now they must return to their best form in the Premier League.

Everton are the competition this time around, and Ronald Koeman’s side will pose a very big challenge for the Red Devils. However, if Jose Mourinho picks the right side and gets his tactics spot on, they’ll surely come out on top.

Anthony Martial has done well this season, but unfortunately for him, someone else has done better.

Marcus Rashford scored once again in the week, and at this point, he is simply indispensable for Jose Mourinho.

Martial certainly has talent, and in time he’ll be a star for Man Utd, but it’s Marcus Rashford’s time – and Martial must wait his turn.

Matteo Darmian has found life tough at Man Utd, and he has had a particularly poor run of form in recent weeks.

If Luke Shaw was fit, the Italian wouldn’t be anywhere near the first team, but fortunately for Jose Mourinho, another player impressed against Basel that could grab his attention.

Ashley Young looked very good indeed, and he has a lot of experience at playing at left-back from his time there last season.

He’s no youngster, but if he can play anything like he did in mid-week, he deserves another chance to shine.
