‘Not Spanish enough for Rafa’ - Newcastle fans discuss future of popular man on Twitter

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been reacting to a story in The Chronicle that claims Aidy Boothroyd, the England U21 manager, has hailed Adam Armstrong as Egland’s best player at the annual Toulon tournament as the young Magpie has started two of England’s three group games in France.

The youngster scored nine goals in his 17 starts on loan at Blackburn in the 2017/18 season and the fans have now been calling for the young striker to be given his chance in the Premier League with his parent club, Newcastle next season. The Geordies have a bit of a striker crisis at the moment, with their top goalscoring last season being Ayoze Perez with just eight goals and neither Joselu or Dwight Gayle managing to have an impact.

If the club could bag themselves a clinical striker who could contribute 15 or more league goals next season then they’d be very well placed to improve on their 10th place finish that they managed this season. The club has done very well to finish in the top half despite bagging just 39 goals in their 38 Premier League games, scoring the 7th least amount of goals in the division, although both their goals scored and league position could have been higher with the influence of Armstrong in the squad.

Unfortunately he’s not Spanish enough to interest Rafa. Give him same number of starts as Joselu and Perez got then he’d score more than both combined
