Many Nottingham Forest fans are fuming with central midfielder Ryan Yates following his actions for the club in their Championship match against Reading.
In the first twenty minutes, the 23 year-old was sent off after he cleared a shot from Reading off the line using his hand. He tried to deceive the referee, but it didn’t work – and to make matters even worse, the Royals converted the penalty to take the 1-0 lead.
The Englishman will now be suspended, with the next two matches coming up against Norwich and Brentford. These two teams are battling for promotion like Reading, so this will be a very daunting task for Chris Hughton’s side and Yates’ decision could cost the club in more than just this one fixture.
For Forest, the story is a lot more bleak, as they are only three points away from the relegation zone, and five points from the bottom of the table (SofaScore). Therefore, actions like the one from Yates are understandably being slated by the Forest faithful, with one supporter calling him a ‘liability’.
Here is how Nottingham Forest fans reacted to Yates’ red card:
Oh God Ryan Yates you idiot. #nffc
