Nottingham Forest: Fans fuming as Christie starts against Swansea - Nottingham Forest News

Many Nottingham Forest fans were not happy with manager Chris Hughton after he decided to start Cyrus Christie against Swansea City.

It is a huge game for Forest, as their next four games are against teams who are all currently in the top six in the Championship (SofaScore). One fan, in particular, blasted the decision, saying that the defender has been ‘poor’ this season.

Hughton’s side currently sit one spot above the relegation zone so decisions the manager makes will be heavily scrutinised. Despite many of the fan base being frustrated at the Irish international starting, he has proved to be a vital defensive asset for the club this campaign.

Christie has managed on average 2.1 tackles, 1.6 interceptions and 1.2 clearances per game in the division (WhoScored). Meanwhile offensively he also provides a threat, as the 28-year-old has managed 1.5 key passes a game.

He has joined on a season-long loan from Fulham (Transfermarkt) so has a point to prove if he wants to stay at the club come the summer.

Here is how Forest fans reacted after seeing Christie in the starting eleven:

It is surely a sign of madness to keep doing the same thing over again and failing? Christie and Figs have been so poor, need taking out of the firing line. Hoping to be surprised and we get a win but not hopeful having seen the line up #NFFC
