‘On his day he’s unreal’ – Newcastle fans call for club to sign bargain 26-year-old

The Newcastle fans in the Transfer Tavern have been urging their club to reach out to Jack Wilshere, who’s set to leave Arsenal upon the expiry of his contract this summer. The 26-year-old came out yesterday with the news that he’d be saying goodbye to Arsenal after 17 years of being on their books, and the Newcastle fans would love to see him at St James Park.

The only issue for Wilshere at Newcastle would be whether the club could afford to pay his wages or not. The England international, who felt hard done by to miss out on the World Cup this summer, would no doubt be demanding wages upwards of £100,000 per week, although the fact that he was prepared to take a pay cut to stay at Arsenal is promising for the Magpies who might be able to entice the midfielder.

Wilshere would suit the style of Newcastle United, and the fans in the Northeast will always warm to a player who gives everything for the shirt. At times Wilshere has been questioned for his injury record, but he’s never been accused of lacking passion. If the move does happen, the Geordies will be getting a hard-working midfield man who can slot in alongside either Mo Diame or Jonjo Shelvey.

The Newcastle fans in the Tavern all seem keen to take a punt on Wilshere and with no transfer fee involved, it’s right up Mike Ashley’s street.
