Everton have had something of a poor season by their own standards and manager Sam Allardyce will no doubt be unhappy at the mid table finish the club are currently on course for.

The Toffees had a summer of huge spending last time out, and it remains to be seen whether the owners will once again go for it this summer after seeing many of the big name signings not quite live up to expectation during their first year with the club.

Here in the Tavern, our landlord is thinking that the club need to re-assess this summer, and he thinks there is room to be moving a few players out as well as bringing in a few new faces to improve the squad and freshen things up.

With that in mind, we took a look at one potential incoming and one potential outgoing at Goodison Park this summer…

Out – Davy Klaassen

The Dutch midfielders move to Merseyside has simply not worked out how he or the club would have hoped, with the former Ajax man failing to cement a place in the team and being dropped from the squad since Allardyce took over.

Klaassen is a player with ability though, and there will no doubt be no shortage of potential suitors should the Toffees decide to sell up.

There’s a high chance of this happening, with Sam Allardyce already admitting previously he tried to move on the attacking midfielder in January but to no avail.

In – David Brooks

Everton will no doubt be looking to snap up the top young talent in and around the Premier League in the coming seasons, and they don’t come any more talented than Sheffield United starlet David Brooks.

The 21-year-old has made a real impact for Chris Wilder’s men this season and has already drawn plenty of admiring glances from the top flight.

Everton have good relations with the Blades following previous deals, and signing Brooks shouldn’t be a problem. A player with bags of potential and someone who is a match winner on his day, Brooks would be a superb capture for the Toffees.
