One more signing: if Arsenal seal this deal, they’ll be back in the top four

It’s long been touted by our Arsenal fans here in the Transfer Tavern, that Arsenal needs to bring in a tough-tackling enforcer, to toughen up the team and give it a little bite.

Ever since the days of that the partnership of Patrick Vieira and Emmanuel Petit broke down, the Gunners have needed to bring in that tough tackling mould. Perhaps not a duo but at least one midfield general, someone who will counter-balance the tip-tap football the Gunners like to play.

Many have come in and tried, much to the disappointment of our regular Londoners in the bar, but this transfer window is showing that Emery is trying to make some of the right moves and he could top it off by signing an anchorman, in order to allow flair players to roam further up the field.

After a shortlist being drafted up between the landlord and the regular whiskey drink at the end of the bar, the list has been funnelled down to one and many of our north London locals believe a big signing in such a problem area of the squad would go some way into helping the Gunners get back into the top-four.

The landlord takes a look at this defensive midfielder, Emery should be looking at this summer…

OUR VERDICT – Wilfred Ndidi

The Leicester man is making waves in the Premier League, as the Foxes look like they have the replacement for former fan favourite N’Golo Kante already in place. The 21-year-old Nigerian tough tackling midfielder could be perfect for Emery and his new Arsenal team.

He’s not scared of getting his foot in and can also break up the play with visionary interceptions and playing the simple ball away to one of his teammates to set up the counter-attack.

Ndidi may only be young, but the signing of him could 180 the Gunners’ fortunes in the Premier League at long last.
