Under the ownership of majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri, Everton have been able to spend large amounts of money in recent transfer windows and are likely to continue to do so in the future.
The likes of England World Cup goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, Gylfi Sigurdsson, Cenk Tosun and Michael Keane have all been brought in for big money thanks to the financial backing of Moshiri with Everton attempting to break into the Champions League qualification spots.
Marco Silva, who was brought in to replace Sam Allardyce as manager this summer, will attempt to strengthen his squad in various departments. However, the Portuguese coach wouldn’t have to look too far from home when trying to improve his forward line by utilising English youngster Ademola Lookman.
Lookman, valued at £10.8m by Transfermarkt, spent the second half of the season out on loan at Bundesliga side RB Leipzig and should now be reintegrated back into the Everton squad after his successful spell in Germany.
The 21-year-old certainly has much to offer. Despite being quite a raw talent, Lookman would be a more reliable asset to Silva compared to some of Everton’s other attacking options such as Yannick Bolasie.
Bolasie’s tendency to complicate his 1v1s with different skills and tricks can be costly for Everton in regards to possession, while the 29-year-old’s overall end product is usually shocking. Lookman, on the other hand, showed how productive he can be in attack by scoring five goals and registering four assists in his 11 Bundesliga appearances for RB Leipzig.
At the age of 21, Lookman and his numbers will only get better. Silva must keep the former Charlton forward at all costs.
