The Arsenal fans in the Transfer Tavern are hoping that Unai Emery will land a few game-changing players this summer, with the Gunners in need of serious improvement.
That being said, the Premier League is always tight, and so a couple of signings could change everything for the club, and one player that could seriously help out is David Luiz.
The Brazilian has reportedly been the subject of a bid from Arsenal, and whilst the move has received mixed reviews in the Transfer Tavern, we think a signing like that could be what the team needs to finally get back into the top four.
After all, there’s one thing that Luiz – who is rated at £22.5 million by Transfer Markt – has that most at Arsenal don’t: winning experience. He’s done it all and won it all over the years, from domestic trophies, to league titles to European trophies – and that could be crucial. Arsenal are looking to get back into title-winners, and having someone with that knowledge of winning is invaluable.
You also have to look at his personality. He’s known as a funny, happy-go-lucky individual, and he’s become quite the leader at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal have a bit of a lack of that sort of personality, as well, and so the Brazilian would be right at home. He could help them unify, which is important given Arsene Wenger’s departure.
Most important of all, though, you just have to look at what he can do on the pitch. Under Antonio Conte in the Italian’s first season in charge, the Brazilian was arguably the best defender in the Premier League. He was consistently fantastic, and he became a regular at Stamford Bridge as a result. The mistakes that were once prevalent in his game appear to have disappeared completely, and so in reality, this move has little downside.
He would come in and massively improve the Arsenal defence, and everything else that he brings would put Arsenal much closer to a top-four finish.
