The statement from Manchester United earlier this evening says on the face of things says nothing at all.
What it actually says though is that Team Rooney aren’t as stupid as some might wish to paint them. It’s a buyers market. With one bidder in the room it is a seemingly impossible task to up the ante. Not necessarily.
United have, quite out of character and rather naively walked straight into Wazza’s trap.
After basically telling the world he could leave Manchester United behind like a used prophylactic, he’s now using them to negotiate his diminished market value upward.
Clever, although not entirely unexpected. Rooney however still has some way to go before he is elevated above the ranks of a classless bum.
I’d chuck him an invoice for his buyout monies on his contract and have security **** him into the street.
