Nottingham Forest have been in the market for Barcelona youngster Marcus McGuane, with the transfer saga running over a few weeks due to certain factors at play.
The 21-year-old’s loan spell at Telstar is causing an issue, as the Dutch outfit are believed to want a fee from Forest in order for his loan deal to be cut short.
Nottinghamshire Live report that the midfielder has agreed personal terms with the Reds ahead of a possible return to England, where he previously turned out for Arsenal, making two senior appearances for the Gunners.
The Athletic’s Paul Taylor has also offered an update in regard to McGuane’s future, suggesting that the deal with probably go through but that patience is required.

Due to his age and inexperience, it is believed that he will join Forest’s under-23 setup should he arrive in the Midlands, but with Sabri Lamouchi handing game-time to youngsters like Ryan Yates and Alfa Semedo, there is a chance for McGuane to progress at the club.
It is certainly an intriguing development given that Barcelona rated him highly enough to sign him, indicating that he has significant talent.
The Championship could be the perfect environment for him to learn and develop should the Reds not get promoted, just as it has been for Matty Cash who has been Forest’s top performer in this campaign, according to WhoScored. Indeed, the likes of Oliver Burke, Jamaal Lascelles and Patrick Bamford have all graduated from the club’s academy in recent years, so it’s clear they know how to develop talent.
Signing McGuane at a young age also presents the club with an opportunity to sell him at a higher price subsequently if he does progress well, although whether he is the addition needed to reach the Premier League remains to be seen.
Either way, it seems that he will be joining the club, and therefore there is cause for excitement for Forest supporters.
