Manchester City are going well in the Premier League and their fans who are congregating at the front of the bar are in good spirits with the international break now upon us.

It’s been a topsy-turvy campaign at times for Pep Guardiola and his players, who have endured some really tough results but have then gone onto pick it back up again.

Their 3-1 win over Barcelona at the Etihad will long go down in history but then this weekend, they could only manage a 1-1 draw with newly promoted Middlesbrough at the Etihad Stadium.

It’s form that isn’t typical of a normally dominant Manchester City side, and we think a couple of quality additions in January could see them restore their typical swagger once again.

And the players we want to look at are Portuguese, especially seeing as Portugal were this summer’s Euro 2016 winners.

So with that in mind, here’s TWO Portuguese players we think Guardiola should be looking to sign in January…

Bernardo Silva

As quality flankers go, there are perhaps none better in Europe right now than Bernardo Silva, who is really helping Monaco to challenge for the Ligue 1 title this season.

In perhaps the most competitive domestic French campaign we’ve seen since Montpellier’s win back in 2012, Monaco are really flying and Silva is more than doing his bit.

He’s scored four and played in all of Monaco’s league games this season, which has seen win 7-0 at Metz and 6-0 at home to Nancy last weekend.

At just 22-years-old, he’s got so much more time to develop and who knows, he could be the man to fill the boots of Cristiano Ronaldo in five years time.

Danilo Pereira

Porto midfielder Danilo Pereira is perhaps one of the most underrated Portuguese players around, especially with all the emphasis usually on the attacking stars in the side.

But for both Porto and the international side, the Guinea-born holding-midfielder has been seriously impressive, with his pace and power usually preventing opposition sides breaching the defence.

He and William Carvalho have formed a seriously good partnership on the international stage and you could really see him fitting into this Manchester City squad.

At just 25, he’s got years ahead of him at the top level and we think he’d be great for City.
