Romelu Lukaku has had a decent start to life in Manchester, but it’s fair to say that fans’ expectations are yet to be met. It’s been a while since the Red Devils had a genuinely lethal forward, with the likes of Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Wayne Rooney not reaching their peaks since the arrival of Jose Mourinho.
Nonetheless, Lukaku is clearly the future of the club, and so patience is important.
However, that doesn’t mean that Mourinho should stand around and wait. He needs a selection of attackers that can do a job, and so recent links with Mario Mandzukic make sense.
Whilst it remains to be seen whether Mourinho will take them up on that offer, he’s certainly the sort of player that the Portuguese is usually a fan of. Powerful, tall, combative, experienced – he ticks all the boxes.
That’s likely why the Man Utd fans on Twitter appear to be so behind the prospect of a deal.
He seems like a popular man amongst Man Utd fans, with many thinking that he could be a great option beyond Lukaku.

Mandzukic, despite being 32 is excellent in the air, is quite athletic and because of the CF position on offer, imo he won't mind playing backup to Romelu Lukaku…so if it's a pretty cheap deal without involving a player, it'd be excellent for @ManUtd #MUFC #GGMU
