Mauricio Pochettino has always shown a preference for young players, with some incredible young talents on display in North London. Naturally, then, you’d expect Pochettino to always be on the lookout for the next big thing, and our landlord thinks that he would find it in Man Utd midfielder Angel Gomes.
The 17-year-old has yet to really get much of a look-in at Old Trafford, despite making his debut for the club. He’s been one of their most important players at the developmental level, having served as one of their best playmakers for the last couple of years. However with Jose Mourinho at the helm, and the likes of Marcus Rashford and Alexis Sanchez ahead of him – is there going to be any room for him in the first team anytime soon?
Our landlord isn’t so sure, and so he thinks that a move to Spurs would be perfect.
After all, as we’ve already noted, the Lilywhites love to make use of youngsters. For Pochettino, age doesn’t matter – it’s all about quality. Gomes is certainly good enough to have a role in the first team at Tottenham, and so he’d undoubtedly some minutes on the pitch were he to move.
In terms of what he can do, his playstyle matches up perfectly with Spurs. He’s quick and technically gifted, and so he’s brilliant at dancing around defences and moving the ball forward. Furthermore, he’s also a great passer, and so he’d be brilliant at setting up the lethal Harry Kane, whilst he’d also be able to help out with the building from the back style that Pochettino has made use of as of late.
Of course, he’s one of Man Utd’s most talented youngsters, and so they won’t want to let him go. However, perhaps he would be tempted by a move to London, and if so, it might be worth Tottenham splashing the cash to land him.
