Portsmouth eye move for Joe Nuttall

Portsmouth have bounced back after suffering defeat against Charlton Athletic at the Valley at the start of this month, as they’ve secured six points in their last two games.

Indeed, their automatic promotion hopes are still very much alive but they’ll need to go up a couple of gears if they are to catch the likes of Sunderland and Barnsley.

Although, it appears as if Kenny Jackett already has his eye on the summer transfer window.

What’s the news?

According to reliable journalist Alan Nixon, Portsmouth are already asking about Blackburn Rovers’ Joe Nuttall.

The forward hasn’t exactly enjoyed a very successful time of things at Ewood Park in the current campaign as he’s struggled to secure regular minutes, with just two goals to his name in 12 Championship appearances.

The Verdict:

Portsmouth will need to bring in at least one striker in the summer transfer window as the likes of Omar Bogle and James Vaughan are set to return to their parent clubs in the summer. And, Brett Pitman hasn’t exactly been the first-choice striker this season and he turns 32 next year, so reinforcements are definitely needed.

Joe Nuttall is only 22 years of age so he still has his best years ahead of him and it’s safe to say that he’s displayed moments of promise in the current campaign. But, he’s far from the finished product so Jackett will need to work his magic once again having brought the likes of Jamal Lowe and Ronan Curtis on leaps and bounds this season.

Portsmouth fans, is Joe Nuttall good enough? Surely he could struggle in the Championship if you secure promotion this season…
