Portsmouth: Fans maintain they will back the team

There has been plenty of frustration at Portsmouth in recent weeks and with good reason.

The team are just two points and one place above the League One relegation zone, as shown on BBC Sport, with much of the blame for this being pointed towards Kenny Jackett.

Michael Eisner, the owner of The Tornante Company, who owns Portsmouth, has made a plea on Twitter to the club’s fans to support the team:

He likely will have been pleased with the overall message that he got back, as despite making the frustrations towards Jackett clear, many Pompey fans made it equally evident that they will support their club no matter what.

It just goes to show that many fans don’t turn up because they like the manager or players who are leading their team forward at that time, but do so because of their love for what their club embodies for them.

This will be on show even more than normal on Tuesday night, as Pompey host Southampton in the Carabao Cup, playing in the first South Coast derby since 2012, as per 11v11.
