Tottenham: Joe Lewis sets Spurs takeover valuation

Tottenham, Antonio Conte, Daniel Levy, ENIC, Spurs takeover

Reliable journalist Sami Mokbel of The Daily Mail has shared how much Tottenham and owner Joe Lewis are ‘seeking’ for a takeover bid.

The Lowdown: Najafi plots Spurs takeover…

Earlier this week, The Financial Times broke huge news with US billionaire Jahm Najafi of MSP Sports Capital plotting an imminent approach to buy Spurs.

The 60-year-old is apparently ‘set to launch’ a $3.75 (£3.1) billion offer to takeover the Premier League side and the formal bid is expected ‘within weeks’.

This comes as big news for supporters, especially those who have protested the ownership of Lewis and ENIC in recent years, but Mokbel has claimed that Najafi’s proposed offer may fall short.

The Latest: Mokbel shares Spurs price tag…

Taking to Twitter and sharing an article from The Mail, the reliable reporter claims Lewis is set to demand a ‘minimum’ £4 billion.

In his piece, Mokbel explains that the Spurs owner is open to selling but values Tottenham between £4bn and £4.5bn – with a proposed £3.1bn sale described as ‘impossible’ by his sources.

He explained on social media:

“Jahm Najafi’s anticipated £3.1bn Spurs offer is short of the club’s valuation. Joe Lewis seeking a minimum £4bn – potentially more. Tottenham insist there has been no approach.”

The Verdict: Interesting months ahead…

The notion that Lewis is open to a sale at the right price is good news for supporters who want to see change, yet an offer between £4bn-£4.5bn could turn off a lot of suitors.

It remains to be seen whether this valuation will deter Najafi, whose vast wealth is certainly eye-watering.

David Ginola

How much did Spurs pay to sign future legend and fan favourite David Ginola?

Reports claim the Iranian-American tycoon’s net worth is double that of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy and has earned billions since leaving Harvard Law School in America.

Najafi is steadily dipping his fingers into the world of sports finance, currently holding a minority stake in NBA outfit Phoenix Suns as well as being vice-chairman of F1’s McLaren Racing.

He now appears to be the latest magnate to take an interest in the Premier League and Antonio Conte‘s top-four chasers.
