Aston Villa: Fans far from impressed with John McGinn for Newcastle United performance

John McGinn’s rise from the Scottish second division to Premier League football has been well-documented since Aston Villa’s promotion to the top tier in England but it’s fair to say the former Hibernian man got his fair share of criticism last night.
While the Midlands giants did manage to put former manager Steve Bruce to the sword in a relatively comfortable 2-0 victory at Villa Park last night, the man who has seen his form reportedly (via the Sun) admired by the likes of Manchester United didn’t quite have the impact some may have expected.
McGinn lost the ball three times (via WhoScored), took 2 unsuccessful touches and was unable to complete a successful dribble which is a disappointing return given he’s been averaging 2.5 of those per Premier League game this year. Indeed, the Birmingham Mail also noted how he was ‘out-done’ by his teammates, with the likes of Jack Grealish and Conor Hourihane making far more key passes than him last night.
Usually a rather popular player amongst the Villa support, here’s a look at what some of them made of his outing.
Guilbert and McGinn have had bad games so far. We're allowing too much in the final third to Newcastle

Not been John McGinn's best performance and Luis is having a poor 2nd half. Good to see Jack back #AVLNEW
