As the January transfer window approaches, Aston Villa have been linked to Brentford winger Said Benrahma – and there has been a mixed response from fans.
According to the Sun, Dean Smith’s side are hoping to secure his services for a cool £20m as they attempt to bolster their squad to give themselves every chance of staying in the English top-tier this campaign.
The Birmingham-based side allegedly made a number of attempts to bring the Algerian to the Midlands over the summer but ended up falling short.
Benrahma has continued his decent form this season, though it hasn’t transpired into too many goals or assists. From his 14 appearances this campaign, he has the second-highest average rating in the squad with 7.08/10 according to WhoScored, scoring twice and assisting as many.
There was a pretty mixed response from the Villa fanbase. Many seemed really encouraged by the rumours, though there were a few others who suggested some other Championship players they may prefer, such as Jarrod Bowen and Eberechi Eze.
