After getting off to a slow start to life on Tyneside, Miguel Almiron’s hardworking performances as of late have warranted plenty of praise from the manager, with Newcastle supporters concurring.
Almiron, who has so far registered zero goals and zero assists since making a transfer record-breaking move to Newcastle from the MLS back in January, came under plenty of fire for his lack of influence at the end of last season – attracting criticism from the media as well as the fans.
Should Newcastle sign Granit Xhaka?
However, over one third of a way through this campaign, supporters are now starting to see the merit in Almiron’s signing – citing his plentiful work rate and desire as a key component to his likeability on Tyneside.
These sentiments have been echoed by manager Steve Bruce, who has proved to be a polarising figure since replacing Rafa Benitez in the summer, but supporters have banded together to agree with the ex-Sunderland boss following his latest comments on the playmaker.
Speaking to Sky Sports via North East correspondent Keith Downie, the Magpies boss stated: “I’ve never seen anyone in 20 years cover the distance or play with the intensity that he does. His running stats are incredible – as big as I’ve seen for any player. He’s multi-talented, I’m confident it’ll happen for him.”
As a result, fans have concurred with the statement on Twitter, flocking to praise both men.
For once I agree with Bruce

We are better with Almiron than without him. His haters are clueless tbh.
He should be scoring a few but his overall play and work ethic is great and he has been involved in many goals.

Started the move for Matty goal with a 40 yarder to ASM, won free kick for 1st goal against West Ham and I believe the corner for the 2nd not sure on that one..His pass to ASM helped create DeYedlin goal…Just wait till he starts producing.

I do feel sorry for Almiron he plays his socks off for the black and whit shirt. Playing in the MLS is completely different to the MLS is completely different to the EFL. Once he gets his first on Monday night v Aston Villa.
