During the summer, Liverpool bolstered their forward options with the addition of Xherdan Shaqiri, who has made an impressive start to the season.

The Switzerland international joins an already star-studded attack consisting of Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane, giving manager Jurgen Klopp further firepower in the club's Premier League title charge.

And the German could look to strengthen that area of his squad again when the transfer window opens in January with a certain man from Barcelona reportedly being lined up for a move to Anfield.

The Breakdown

According to Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), Liverpool will move for Ousmane Dembele should Barcelona indicate that they are willing to sell the Frenchman.

Dembele has largely been on the periphery since arriving at the Camp Nou last summer, but he remains an incredibly gifted player who would add a lot to Liverpool's squad.

With a front three of Mane, Firmino and Salah, breaking into the Reds' starting XI would be no easy feat. However, looking at Manchester City, Pep Guardiola is able to get so much from all of his attacking options, often rotating between the likes of Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Riyad Mahrez.

If Liverpool are to compete for multiple honours, they need high-calibre alternatives to their first-choice attacking trio. And Dembele is the sort of player who would fall into that bracket.

The France international has the technical skill to beat a defender and the crossing ability to consistently pick out a team-mate in the box. All in all, he is a complete winger and is exactly what Liverpool need going forward to reach Manchester City's level.
