Liverpool's squad has improved dramatically over the last few years, and you'd expect that with every passing window, more quality will make its way to Anfield.

That often comes at a cost, though, and the payment is usually the departures of former key players. As a club grows, former stars lose their prominence, and from that point on, their time at the club is running down.

Certainly, at the end of what will hopefully be a successful season for the Reds, a few more changes could come, and a few departures could be included.

One player that is almost certainly on the verge of an exit is Alberto Moreno. His contract expires at the end of the season, and it's tough to see a renewal coming his way.

After all, the Spaniard has lost his place in the Liverpool first team, and it's hard to see him gaining it back. Andy Robertson has been tremendous this season, and he's done far more in the last year or so than Moreno did during his entire run as first-choice. Not to mention, James Milner has arguably also forced himself ahead of the Spaniard, too, so that makes life even tougher.

He could always stay as a back-up, of course, but he's not the sort of player that fits that role particularly well. In a back-up, you often just want an unspectacular and solid player that can come in and temporarily do a job. Moreno, though, is far more of an unpredictable and sporadic performer, and you never know if he's going to play well or poorly. So, for Liverpool, that's not what they need.

If an exit doesn't come in January for a cut-price fee, a summer exit looks like a certainty.
