It's a time for change at Everton, and that could facilitate a few big departures over the next few months and years at Goodison Park. They are finally a side on the up, with Marco Silva already making an impact at the helm at Goodison Park.

Some big decisions are on the horizon with regards to the Everton playing squad, with a handful of players arguably no longer having a role at the club.

That could mean that some long-standing men are moved on, and that could well be the case for Leighton Baines. Baines' contract at Goodison Park expires at the end of the season, and right now, there's no real reason to offer him a new one.

After all, Lucas Digne has come in and done what nobody thought was possible - he's replaced the man that has been the living embodiment of Everton for over a decade. Signed from Barcelona, Digne was an instant hit in the Premier League, offering tremendous quality both going forward and defensively.

He's quick and agile, whilst he's also surprisingly physical and robust, and that's made him the perfect left-back for the Premier League.

Not to mention, when Baines has played, he's hardly looked like the England international of old, with a lack of overall quality and, indeed, fitness proving problematic for the 33-year-old.

At 33-years-old, Baines isn't going to magically become the player that he once was, and so with that, he's unlikely to ever be a regular starter at the club again.

With his contract expiring at the end of the season, a January or summer departure makes sense. Surely he won't risk messing up his legacy by extending his time at Goodison Park.
