The Manchester City fans in the Transfer Tavern were shocked to wake up to a story from PremiumSportHD that claims Pep Guardiola’s side are prepared to pay up to 100 million euros (£87.5 million) for Brazilian winger, Douglas Costa. The 27-year-old was on-loan at Juventus from Bayern Munich this season and the Italian club have recently used their option to buy on the winger.

It’s fair to say that the Citizens amongst us in the bar are having nightmares over this one, with the mood very pessimistic over the Brazilian. The City fans have been privileged with their wingers this season as they’ve been treated to watching Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane having full-backs on toast throughout the season, bagging an obscene, 56 goals and assists between them in the Premier League.
Meanwhile, Douglas Costa was quietly going about his business in the Serie A with the Old Lady, bagging four goals and 13 assists in his league campaign, as well helping his side to a Champions League quarter-final where they were narrowly beaten by Juventus despite a brilliant 3-1 win at The Bernabeu. The Brazilian would have been looking forward to getting his head down and preparing for his first season as at Juventus on a permanent deal, however, he could now find himself on the way to Manchester if the reports of City’s interest are true.

This would be the worst transfer we would have ever made, completely mad. The better players you could buy for that amount

Douglas Costa has proved time and time again that he’s a great player, in his time at Shakhtar, Bayern and now Juventus he’s impressed, although the City fans are squirming at the links to the Brazilian although this is probably because of the massive fee that is involved.
