Pull your socks up: West Ham’s 3 absolute biggest flops this season

West Ham have really managed to turn their season around much to the delight of many punters here at the Transfer Tavern.

But, it didn’t start well for the Hammers this season and some of the players just simply haven’t kept up with the team’s rise in form.

The east Londoners have been superb in recent weeks and have slowly crept up the league to tenth spot and could still reach the Europa League if they can maintain their run of form.

However, this season some of the players just haven’t shown the quality they should have. Some like Simone Zaza have luckily already left but some are still in the club and have found minutes hard to come by and when they’ve played they have been less than convincing.

With that, these are the three absolute biggest flops at the club this season according to our landlord…

ADRIAN

He had grown a great relationship with the Hammers faithful in recent years after been a solid performer over his time at the club.

However, the way in which he’s gone about his business and being a tad over dramatic at times this season has cost his side a number of goals and points. He’s seen Darren Randolph take his spot and it’s very unlikely he will come back into the fold this season.

JONATHAN CALLERI

The Argentine arrived with high expectations after a successful stint in South America with clubs like Boca Juniors but it really, really hasn’t worked out so far for him.

He’s well and truly flopped so far but there have been a few flashes of what he can do. There could be enough time for him to turn it around a bit but ultimately he’s been an awful flop and needs to do more on a consistent basis to make our landlord think otherwise.

ALVARO ARBELOA

When the World Cup and Champions League winner arrived at the death in the summer window many of the punters here at the bar were delighted to see him back in England – but it’s not really been a hit for the former Real Madrid and Liverpool man.

The veteran defender has found himself a bit part player and second choice even when the club didn’t have another fit out and out right-back. It’s still a curious situation and many have questioned why he hasn’t been given more chance but he’ll for sure go down as a flop at the Hammers.
