Pundit predicts crowd-pleasing clash, but tough result for Newcastle

Newcastle patrons have made a quick stop in the Transfer Tavern to hear any final updates on their massive Championship clash with Fulham tomorrow.

The Magpies have been a level above the rest of the competition in the second tier this term, boasting a three-point lead at the Championship’s summit that probably should be greater considering the quality at Rafa Benitez’s disposal.

Nonetheless, Newcastle seem almost certain to do just enough to put their noses over the line in the hunt for the title and instantaneous promotion back to the Premier League, having not lost a league fixture since the start of January – although they’ve drawn four of their last nine.

Newcastle play hosts to Fulham at St. James’ Par tomorrow and although the Cottagers are currently outside of the playoff spots, it’s been an enjoyable season for the west London club, who have scored the fourth-most goals of any Championship side.

And with Newcastle also topping the Championship’s scoring charts, Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has predicted a four-goal thriller between the two clubs tomorrow.

Discussing the likely result, the former Southampton, Leeds and Nottingham Forest midfielder predicted a 2-2 draw and said; “This should be a good game with the way that Fulham approach it. They have a lot of energy and pace in the wide areas, and in Tom Cairney have someone who showed his quality with the late goal against Leeds in midweek.

“Newcastle have had a good 10 days with wins at Brighton and Huddersfield and then drawing Reading, but I think the points will be shared on Saturday.”
