Miracles do happen in football and, in Moussa Sissoko’s case, the Tottenham supporters might well believe they’re watching one unfold in front of their very eyes.
Tottenham Hotspur welcomed Inter Milan to the home of English football last night for an encounter which promised to provide a stern test of their mettle on the big stage. Spurs have been accused of being overly Spursy during Champions League encounters in recent years, but they stepped up to the plate with a thoroughly professional performance of the highest quality to claim all three points and keep their slim hopes of qualification alive.
Christian Eriksen stole the headlines with his excellently taken winning goal, but it was a goal made possible by the bursting run of Moussa Sissoko who sliced through the heart of Inter Milan’s defensive unit in the buildup.
It was a run which rekindled memories of the Sissoko who earned a move to Tottenham in 2016, and it was yet another indicator to prove that he has developed into a fantastic footballer this season.
In the aftermath of proceedings, BT Sport pundit, Jermaine Jeans, a man who can sympathise with Sissoko’s past struggle from his own time at Spurs, paid tribute to the France international for his glowing performance, citing his impressive “driving runs” as the reason “why Spurs bought him in the first place.”

Indeed, Sissoko is almost impossible to stop when he is running at full tilt, and his devastating run in the build-up to Tottenham’s goal illuminated that to full effect.
And Jenas was eager to specifically acknowledge Sissoko’s influence in Eriksen’s match-winner.
“He was massive, not only in the game against Chelsea, but the goal today that’s all Sissoko”
After a pair of exceptional performances against both Chelsea and Inter Milan the Tottenham supporters will be feeling elated, but also completely baffled by how rapidly Sissoko has transformed this season.
Credit where credit is due: Sissoko’s turnaround has been nothing short of miraculous.
