Rangers: Alan Hutton backs Ryan Jack to win new contract

Ryan Jack could be set to win a new contract with Rangers, that is according to their former full-back Alan Hutton.

The ex-Scotland international has been impressed with Jack’s performances of late, insisting that he has gone from “strength to strength” under Steven Gerrard.

He now believes that the holding midfielder deserves to be offered fresh terms by the Ibrox club (reported by the Scottish Sun), as he thinks that he is one of the most important players in the team.

In an interview with Football Insider, Hutton said: “Obviously due to his performances, there is now talk of a new contract which he thoroughly deserves. He’s a massive part of the team and he has taken to it really well.

“He’s one of the first names on the team sheet and his aim now is to kick-on and be the same for Scotland by being one of their main players.

“So hopefully he signs a new deal and can hopefully help Rangers stop Celtic.”

There is no doubt that the Rangers number eight has been in excellent form this season. He has played in 14 of their 15 fixtures in all competitions so far and despite being a defensive midfielder has still managed to chip in with a goal and a couple of assists.

His presence in the team has brought an excellent balance, allowing more attacking players such as Joe Aribo the freedom to get forward and support the strikers, with the former Charlton ace bagging four goals thus far.

Jack joined the Gers from Aberdeen back in 2017, and has already been given one contract extension by the club which runs until 2021. However, given how well he has been playing of late, the club may be keen to get another new contract on the table sooner rather than later to ensure he remains at Ibrox as they look to end their long wait for the league title.

Rangers fans, do you think that the club be looking to tie Ryan Jack down to a new contract soon? Let us know in the comments below!
