When Steven Gerrard inherited Graeme Murty’s Rangers squad, he probably expected to have to do a lot more in the transfer window. However, there were some gems in that squad and Daniel Candeias is now starting to prove that he is one of them, with his superb performances earning nothing but the highest praise from the onlooking Gers.

The Portuguese winger has more than found his form as of late. The 30-year-old has been sublime in the Europa League group stages for his side, providing two assists in his two games, including a no-look backheel to set Alfredo Morelos away to score the club’s third goal against Rapid Wein. Add that to his goal and assist in the Scottish Premier League and things are starting to come together for Candeias.
Steven Gerrard will be buzzing to have the winger firing the way he is and his work rate is second to none. Having a winger in front of you who tracks back and puts in the shift that Candeias does is a full-back’s dream and James Tavernier will be loving life with Candeias working his socks off in front of him. Next up for Candeias will be to start adding a few more goals to his game, but for now, The Gers are delighted with his stunning form.
