Lots of Rangers fans have been defending goalkeeper Wes Foderingham after a story emerged about his ‘lost two years’ playing understudy to Allan McGregor.
As reported by The Daily Record, Foderingham is out of contract at the end of the current campaign and the club would like to extend his stay. However, there is interest from England and the 29 year-old needs games – he has played just 180 minutes of Premiership action this season.
Per Transfermarkt, the shot-stopper is valued at just £450k so with his contract ticking down offering him a new deal definitely seems the right thing to do, for even if he leaves the club could then recoup more money for him.
That said, the man himself seems keen to leave Ibrox in search of regular playing time, saying: “It has been very frustrating for me. It’s difficult because Greggsy’s been playing so well. He hasn’t given me a chance to get back in there.”
He continued: “It feels like I’ve lost two years of my career, definitely. It’s hard to look at it any other way.”
Foderingham spoke in glowing terms about McGregor and also gushed about the quality and success of the current side, clearly holding no ill will towards the fact he has missed out on regular playing time, but also hinting it may be best to move on. With that in mind, fans have leapt to his defence after one supporter labelled his comments ‘embarrassing’, as you can see in the Twitter reactions down below…
It’s only embarrassing if you are falling for it as him slagging off Rangers.
Of course he wants to play he’s a good keeper. He’s been unlucky that their is a great keeper in front of him.

Why? Because he wants to play every week. Good for him that’s the attitude we want.

How is it embarrassing? He feels he’s good enough to be our No 1, and to be honest he is, he’s just been unfortunate that we’ve brought McGregor back and his standard is so high. He hasn’t left before now because he’s believed he’s good enough to get back in the team.

Harsh, Wes is a decent goalkeeper and is easily championship level

The only embarrassing thing is your opinion

The replies to this are embarrassing
He’s a professional footballer, he wants to play every week and that’s the mentality he should have at Rangers.
Just looking for an excuse to moan, imagine he had said “I’ve loved the last two years, I don’t want to play every week” https://t.co/MesTQo3wgp

I would never have grudged wes a move away from the club, great keeper who deserves to be playing every week, just not in front of McGregor, he’s on another level.
I don’t think he was moaning either, just the way it was reported.
Always been a top professional
