On Monday, Football Insider reported that Rangers had submitted an offer to Stoke for the 20-year-old striker, whom they could potentially sign for as little as £300,000 due to cross-border rules. Campbell has scored four goals in 17 Championship appearances for the Potters this season, including three in his last four games in the division, and Rangers’ crosstown rivals Celtic are also believed to be interested in signing him, according to Sky Sports.
The Light Blues’ pursuit of the youngster signals their intentions to reinforce their centre-forward options, with Alfredo Morelos, Jermain Defoe, Greg Stewart and Eduardo Herrera the current choices in that position. While Morelos and Defoe have scored 42 goals between them this term, the former has attracted attention from Newcastle (as per Daily Record) while the latter is due to return to Bournemouth upon the expiry of his loan at the end of the season (as per BBC). Stewart has played just 538 first team minutes this season, with three goals to his name, while Herrera is not long back from a loan spell at Necaxa in Mexico where he scored nine goals in 39 games.
These Rangers fans on Twitter hope that Campbell will end up at Ibrox:
Young and plenty of potential would definitely take him. Would also pay a little more to get him now if that’s an option. Half a season being mentored by Defoe and Morelos could make a huge difference and could lead to us already having Morelos’ replacement for when he leaves

Haven’t seen much but if he’s better than what we have in youth setup then it’s a aye from me low risk high reward maybe

Yes.
I hadn’t seen him play until this rumour but i have seen a few videos and he looks good.
Stoke fans don’t seem happy about him leaving either which is always a good sign.

We need to grow that position now. Alfie is going, we know it’s gonna happen, so start now get a quality signing in, half a season to deal with being at Rangers, learning from Alfie and Defoe, ready for next season. I thought it was Rudden but guess not, so it’s a yes from me!!!

I think so, defoe isnt gonna be around for much longer and morelos potentially away in the summer, and hes also linked with Celtic so even better if we sign him.
— Ryan Smith🇬🇧 (@__RS72) January 14, 2020
Definitely. We should be taking full advantage of the cross border compensation rule.

Nominal cross border fee and good potential so its a no brainer. Boy has talent and good sporting pedigree with his dad and under Stevie G’s tutelage he can only get better.

With Alfie probably going we’ll be left with Defoe, he does a job but isnt getting any younger.. bring him in, let him learn & it will give Stewart competition & push him on too. People saying theyve no heard of him.. who was Alfredo Morelos before he joined the mighty Gers?
