Plenty of Rangers fans enjoyed a quote from former Ibrox striker Jason Cummings in a recent post-match interview.
The 24-year-old came off the bench to score twice for Shrewsbury as they retrieved a two-goal deficit to draw with Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday (as per BBC) and he was asked by talkSPORT reporter Ian Abrahams after the game if the upcoming replay at Anfield would be the biggest match of his career, as per this clip from @BroadcastMoose on Twitter. As noted by The Scottish Sun, Cummings quickly shot down the suggestion, saying: “I’ve played in a few Old Firms. I don’t think it gets much bigger than that.”
The Shrews striker had a loan spell at Rangers during the second half of the 2017/18 season, scoring six times in 18 appearances for the Light Blues in that campaign after being loaned out by Nottingham Forest. He played in two Old Firm derbies during that spell, coming on as a substitute in a 2-3 defeat at Ibrox and featuring for the entirety of the 5-0 loss to Celtic at Parkhead towards the end of that season (as per TransferMarkt).
After hearing their former striker talk up the Glasgow derby, these Rangers fans took to Twitter to share their delight with Cummings’ remarks:
