A lot of Rangers fans on Twitter have been getting excited ahead of their Europa league 1st qualifying round against FK Shkupi at Ibrox tonight. The European game is the first game in Steven Gerrard’s senior management career and he’ll be hoping to get off to a flyer.

Tonight promises to be a huge occasion for the Gers, last season they fell at this hurdle in the Europa League qualifiers, losing out to Progres Niederkorn in a hugely embarrassing game for all those associated with the Bluenoses. This time around it promises to be better for the fans who have Steven Gerrard leading them with seven of his nine new signings available to face their Macedonian opposition.
This match provides the club with their first opportunity to see what they look like in a competitive fixture with Stevie G in charge. The former England and Liverpool captain will have got his players well-drilled and ready for a tough matchup against Shkupi, but ultimately the Glasgow outfit will be the favourites for the tie as they hope to take another step towards taking part in the Europa League group stages when the season is well underway.
