Rangers fans would never have believed it if you told them when Pedro Caixinha signed him that they’d all be delighted to see Daniel Candeias captaining their side. The Portuguese winger was guilty by association with ex-gaffer, yet he’s more than proved himself to the Ibrox faithful and was rewarded with armband in yesterday’s friendly.
@Dcandeias11 : “It is an honour to be a captain for this club. In the team, all the players have a responsibility, but I am happy to have the trust of the gaffer and my teammates to be the captain of the team.”

Steven Gerrard completely changed his lineup at half-time yesterday, and with Candeias coming on to play the second 45-minutes against HJK Helsinki, it was the 30-year-old who Stevie G entrusted with the captain’s armband. After the game, Candeias took to the Rangers website with what it meant to wear that armband, and how much of an honour it was for him.
Until signing for Rangers, Candeias was something of a journeyman. The winger had never found a home anywhere in football, with Rangers being the 14th club who the winger has played for. However, Glasgow has become the Portuguese maestro’s home, and the Gers wouldn’t even consider letting the classy veteran winger leave Ibrox, especially seeing as he could be lined up as a captain by Gerrard after yesterday.

The Gers can’t get enough of Candeias and after yesterday they’ll want to see more from the Portuguese winger as a captain.
