Loads of Rangers fans are missing Daniel Candeias as they look ahead to Thursday’s Europa League clash, after one supporter shared a clip of Alfredo Morelos’ memorable goal against Rapid Vienna.
Steven Gerrard’s side have lost serious ground in the title race in recent weeks, dropping points in three of their last six contests, but the return of Europa League action brings with it a chance for the Gers to get back to their best. Indeed, some of the most memorable moments of Gerrard’s short reign so far have come in European action, and perhaps none more iconic than Morelos’ late goal in the 3-1 win over Rapid Vienna.
In a difficult group including Villarreal and Spartak Moscow, the momentous win over the Austrian outfit was absolutely crucial, and Candeias’ beautiful assist for the final goal will live long in the memory of the Ibrox faithful.
The 31 year-old, valued at £900k by Transfermarkt, is of course now plying his trade in Turkey, where he has scored three times and provided six assists for Genclerbirligi, and plenty of fans took to Twitter to reminisce about the Portuguese ace…
Will always remember the Candyman for that, outstanding!

Candeias was intelligent, dogged and brave. Not something you can say about Jones, Barker or Ojo.
He and Murphy instantly improve the squad IMO.
