A number of Rangers fans have been discussing potential transfer market activity for the closing few days of the January window following a tweet from @4ladshadadream on the possiblity of a striker being added before Friday’s deadline.
It’s not the time to chuck in the towel, players need the support. Natural disappointment is a given but all is not lost
I’m confident we will enter into the market this week as it’s clear an attacking spark would help everyone & hope this will kick us on
No room for error now

Steven Gerrard has not brought in any new players so far this month, although the ‘Gers agreed a deal with centre-forward Jermain Defoe to turn his loan move into a one-year permanent transfer at the end of this season, as per Sky Sports. The 37-year-old, who has scored 16 goals this term, has started the last three matches in place of the suspended Alfredo Morelos, the Light Blues’ top scorer for the season with 28 goals to his name, although Gerrard’s men lost ground in the Premiership title race after Sunday’s defeat at Hearts.
As reported by the Daily Record, the Ibrox club had held pre-contract talks with Stoke striker Tyrese Campbell about a possible transfer, only for the 20-year-old to subsequently inform Rangers of his wish to remain with the Potters for the foreseeable future. With Mexican outfit Club Puebla announcing on Twitter [via @ClubPueblaMX] that Eduardo Herrera has joined from Ibrox, that leaves Greg Stewart as the only other centre-forward in Gerrard’s first-team squad.
These Rangers fans took to Twitter to have their say on whether another striker is needed before Friday’s transfer deadline, with the topic providing a difference of views:
Agree a proper no10 would help break down teams and give the players a lift. Problem I see the window is almost over and no team would want too lose a player like that unless it was for decent money, do you have anyone in mind who’d you’d like too see if that 10 role?

100% need another option upfront as back up to Alfie, Defoe for me should be 3rd choice. Depending on how long we have Jack out for then another centre midfielder needs to come in

Hopefully JJ could bolster the attacking options once fully fit…but when AM is out it’s clear we need more options up front…..a tall target man would fit the bill.

Imo we need a striker & right winger to help out Tav

I’m not overly sure we need it. We adapted last year when Morelos was out and got Arfield up tight to Defoe. Past few games Defoe just seems to have been a straight swap for Morelos and (goals aside) has been quite anonymous. I don’t think we will sign anyone as a back up this

I dont buy into that we need a ST though. If alfie behaves n stays on park were fine up there. My concern is jack, davis n kamara all similar. We lack a link between the midfield and upfront. A CAM is where id look. Aribo looks settled out wide and arfield isnt playing great.

Folk keep going on about bringing a striker in extremely difficult to sign someone who ain’t gonna play every week unless Morelos gets injured (my big fear) Jan window is not a great time to be splashing cash on someone that’s not gonna be first choice. Defo need a AM

To be fair were not gonna get even a half decent striker if he’s gonna be playing second or third fiddle I think we need a direct winger. Relying to much on our wing backs for that direct creative spark
