Speaking to Football Insider, McAvennie has now given his reaction to the update, claiming that it is 'embarrassing', and has urged for the situation to be sorted out as soon as possible: “It’s embarrassing, the season hasn’t even started yet and there are problems. “I would like Rangers to have fewer arguments with people and let Gio do the football stuff. “Keep the headlines about the football team because the players won’t like this constant bickering from the board. “I would love to have a right go at the board but I don’t know the ins and outs of it. “Surely grown men can sit around a table and sort this out. “It’s been going on and on and when you see the Rangers players being interviewed, cinch is marked out behind them, it’s just embarrassing. “Just sit around a table and sort it out.”

The Verdict: Get it sorted

As McAvennie points out, the Light Blues need to try and get this situation sorted out before the new season starts if possible - the last thing the manager needs is constant questions distracting he and his players from what really matters. The money that they will lose from the added sponsorships will also start to add up, and it will also affect how much money is distributed throughout Scottish football. The Teddy Bears will still argue their case, and rightfully so, but the dispute does not really benefit anyone in the longer term, and so they need to sit down properly and negotiate a solution immediately.
